Our hOMe school “Signature Move” will be known as the Sound Off Experience™ which happens every Friday at 5:00 in the Family Room. This type of yoga class offering will be UN-HEATED.
We’ve decided to include the SoundOff headsets in the monthly unlimited (which is normally a $5 entertainment fee). Time is needed to set up so please ARRIVE EARLY and HAVE FUN!
This wireless headphone technology lets each attendee control their own volume and tune in to up to three channels of audio from DJs, emcees and/or video presentations. We will continuously create captivating events and yoga classes that can only be heard through our noise-isolating LED headphones.
The Sound Off Experience™ creates lasting impressions at outdoor events, corporate events, private parties, music festivals, trade shows, weddings, speaking engagements, guided group events and beyond as well.
Yin yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga with postures – or asanas – that are held for longer periods of time. For beginners it may range from 45 seconds to two minutes; more advanced practitioners may stay in one asana for five minutes or more. Yin yoga poses apply moderate stress to the connective tissues of the body—the tendons, fascia, and ligaments—with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility. A more meditative approach to yoga, yin aims at cultivating awareness of inner silence, and bringing to light a universal, interconnecting quality.
VinYin Yoga® begins with an all levels moving fluid asana practice (Vinyasa) to increase flexibility, warm and strengthen the muscles and bring presence to the mat. Once achieved the class moves into a balanced experience of supported stretching (Yin) that will lengthen the muscles to support release of toxins and stress. This practice is a beautiful balance supporting the countless benefits of a healing yoga practice. Class will oftentimes wrap with a beautiful sound healing experience!
Un-Heated VinVersion Yoga® is derived from Hatha Yoga which encompasses all types of yoga. “Hatha” is Sanskrit for “forceful”, the ancient Indian language, where most yoga terminology comes from.
Modern Hatha yoga classes are slower paced with less flow between poses. This allows for time to focus on relaxation and the Pranayama breathing techniques taught during these classes. Our un-heated classes will introduce optional inversions when appropriate and will prepare you for our advanced VinVersion Yoga® in the hot room.
Restorative yoga is a form of yoga that seeks to achieve physical, mental and emotional relaxation with the aid of props. The use of props makes it easier for you to maintain balance while you are stimulating and relaxing your body. Bolsters, blankets, blocks and straps are always provided in our hOMe School Restorative yoga classes. Both Yin and Restorative forms of yoga asana are slow-paced. They enable you to move slowly and focus on maybe 10 different poses for the entire class. Both forms of practice calm the mind and nervous system, enable you to turn inward, and focus on the breath.
Introduction to Yoga
Introduction to Flow
* What is radiant heat?
Radiant heat is what you feel when heat transfers from a warm surface to a cooler surface.
* What is convection heat?
Convection heat is what you feel from air heated by warm air furnaces, heat pumps, and baseboards. The warm air is distributed mechanically or through natural convection.
* Why is radiant heat better than convection heat?
1) Long wave radiant energy is the most efficient form of heat transfer.
2) Radiant heat is healthy, comfortable heat.
3) Airborne dust, pollen, and germs are reduced by the elimination of blowing air.
4) Building air pressurization losses are minimized and relative humidity is unaffected.
* Why is heat from the ceiling best, doesn’t heat rise?
Ceiling placement eliminates obstructions to radiant heat transfer. Actually heat doesn’t rise, it’s hot air that rises, creating natural convection like that from baseboard heaters and other warmer surfaces. So, the ceiling is best.
* Will the Yoga room floor be warm if heat is on the ceiling?
Yes, radiant energy creates heat when it strikes the floor and furnishings, and the warmed surfaces reradiate heat, thereby warming the air.
* Just how does radiant heat feel?
Radiant heat is sun like warmth: natural, silent, draft-less, odorless.
Optional inversion-infused Power Vinyasa Yoga – VinVersion Yoga® is derived from Power Yoga which focuses on a fitness based Vinyasa styling.
This encompasses the benefits of movement with breath and meditation in motion, including the building of internal heat, increase of stamina and flexibility, as well as reducing your body’s stress. This class is more personalized by teachers, for they will design their own sequence of postures. Students use this time to synchronize their breathing and movements. All classes will follow proper protocol to open your body.
The ideal complement to Vinyasa and Hatha Yoga in general, this is a class inspired by Anuttara Raja taught by certified Anuttara Raja teachers. While it is challenging to advanced yogis too this is structured in a way that’s accessible to ALL of us to develop a relationship with these restorative postures.
It’s challenging because you have the chance to explore deeper layers of connective tissues that usually go unexplored. It is accessible because it’s designed to open and realign you safely and logically.
This a thorough myoskeletal alignment and we flow through unique transitions while the mind gradually aligns through breath work. Cardio is out of the equation, we coordinate breath with gravity instead in a game of disengaging muscle and mind.
Exercising concentration and emphasizing relaxation, each posture takes you a little higher into deeper meditative states. Raja Yoga is the Yoga of the mind. If your mind can affect your body the other way around is also true.
Yoga understands that through the alignment of the body we also find alignment of the mind. To new explorations and discoveries!
